Espresso Machine Reviews: Some GREAT “Coffee Makers” to Consider!
Espresso Machine Reviews: A coffeemaker is basically a cooking utensil utilized to brew coffee without the added stress of having to boil water into a different container. There are various types of coffee makers consisting of numerous ways of brewing coffee. Usually, coffee grounds are put in a filter inside a funnel, which is then set over a coffee pot. Water, usually cold or tepid, is heated until boiling and directed into the funnel. However, with so many gadgets available it’s amazing that coffee makers don’t mechanically turn into juicers, frying pans or mini-microwaves. Since manufacturers haven’t gotten that far yet, let’s take a look at assorted coffee makers available for consumers today!
Espresso Machine Reviews: Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffee Maker
This coffeemaker is great for a single person or couple. It brews four cups in about five minutes and it only takes a couple of minutes to put in the filter, add coffee grounds, brew, then clean the carafe and detachable coffee filter container. Presto! You’ve got a nice, fresh brewed cup of coffee and a great space saver too for those tight for counter space.

It’s cute and practical if you’re not planning on having more than one other person enjoying the brew. It’s an adequate enough coffeemaker to get the job done, however, there are a few glitches that may be minor to some people or major to others. The digital clock doesn’t light up at night. This can be annoying simply for the fact that “all digital clocks light up at night,” or they should. There’s also the possibility of the filter folding over and permitting coffee grounds to spill over into the carafe. However, this may easily be resolved with a permanent filter. The ‘delay brew’ function must be set each night and this was initially annoying. But then again, it could be quite a helpful feature since at times we all forget to change the filter, the coffee or both. If it automatically switched on then you may end up with left over coffee. Which many coffee drinkers abhor.
The delay brew button rectified this minor nuisance. The pot is a bit fragile so it needs extra careful handling. It also turns itself off after one hour so it saves a lot of coffee too. Overall this coffeemaker fits the bill if you are the only one using it or possibly if it’s only two of you using it. The coffee tastes good, which may have more to do with the coffee itself than the coffeemaker.
Espresso Machine Reviews: Black & Decker DLX1050B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker
This Black & Decker 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker is recommended by the Consumers Report magazine. It has a main feature that magnetizes coffee lovers from around the planet; it doesn’t drip. That means when you pour from the glass pot into the water container or when pouring the coffee into your favorite cup there is no dripping. The coffee flow is also halted from the filter as soon as you take the pot out and the there’s no dripping on the warmer.

For those of us who happen to be a bit clumsy this coffeemaker is a life saver. Furthermore, there’s no condensation on the container lid dripping back into the container when you lift the lid. There’s a simple time and delay function and the filter does not overflow letting grounds fall into the pot. It’s really user-friendly and sensible. However, with most products these days it has it’s setbacks. The coffee basket must be in perfect position or you’ll find yourself cleaning up a mess. Nevertheless, it makes a great cup of coffee whether you make a complete or partial pot. It is a bit difficult to see the water level through the window too. But it isn’t too big of a deal, only if you’re in a hurry and don’t want to take the time to be careful about how much water you’re pouring in.
The top lid snaps into place, so if by chance you need a quick cup of coffee, the grounds basket is steady when you take the pot away or put it back into place. This coffeemaker makes a great cup of coffee and looks good while it’s making it too. It’s very basic, simple to use and works as advertised, even better.
Espresso Machine Reviews: Keurig B-40 B40 Elite Gourmet Single-Cup Home-Brewing System
This coffeemaker looks sleek, modern and, well, 21st century. The B-40 is a perfect selection for a coffee machine because its brewing cycles are quick and the timer function isn’t necessary as with other models. It heats up fast and also comes with an auto-off function that turns off the machine two-hours after your last brew, which is super for those who are a bit forgetful. Some people state that this coffeemaker is loud. It does make some noise and this is normal with a machine that’s thrusting pressurized hot water into K-Cups which by the way may be a bit small for coffee lovers who prefer larger cups. However, it’s not difficult to find K-Cup substitutes from other models.

There’s also some vibration with this machine, but that’s only because it’s hard at work mixing a superb cup of coffee. Besides, the vibration is minimal and it’s not like the machine is going to fall off the counter or something. Nonetheless, the vibration may be an issue for some and not so important to others. For the price of the machine some may feel the tradeoff is not equal and others feel that it’s well worth the minor noise and modest vibration. “It’s a gourmet coffeemaker,” with some pretty cool features like a removable 48-Oz water reservoir, detachable drip tray with two brew-sized alternatives and a two-hour automatic shut-off de-scale indicator.
Another point of contention is that unless you’re using a pretty tall cup coffee that is being poured splatters into coffee that is already in the cup. The cup must be held up to the spout while it’s being poured to keep the coffee from spattering everywhere. It is an attractive machine though and for the price you pay for it, you’ll get your monies worth.
Espresso Machine Reviews: Zojirushi EC-BD15BA Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker
This thermal carafe coffeemaker has a 1.5 liter thermal stainless-steel carafe that keeps coffee hot for hours. It’s really a thermos designed to look and function like a coffee machine and manages to keep coffee hot for hours. Seems practical considering that you don’t have to re-heat your coffee every time. It looks nice too. Glass pot coffee makers look ancient compared to this Zojirushi EC-BD15BAFresh sleek design.

You’ll get 8 cups exactly with this coffeemaker’s accurate gauge water volume. However, if you’re concerned about fingerprints, this happens on stainless steel products, you’ll have a minor cleaning job on your hands. Zojirushi has been on the coffee-machine manufacturing scene for quite some time. They know their business. However, there is some room for improvement from a consumer’s point of view. Like the water temperature. The feeder tube that accompanies the Zojirushi heating compartment to the shower-head goes directly through the water reservoir. For some coffee lovers this is a deal breaker. The heating element becomes disoriented during the heat exchange that happens by-way of the brew head. The heating element does get hot, however, as long as the water placed in the reservoir isn’t too cold.
There also seems to be a slight problem with the design. It’s hit and miss with some machines. Such as carafe caps easily breaking, units mysteriously stopped working and bottoms falling out of the carafe. Thankfully, these are rare occasions and this coffeemaker does come with a one-year warranty. Overall, the added features create extra value such as the electronic clock module, the pause and serve function that halts the flow of coffee for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is being served, along with coffee grounds that are thoroughly saturated, no dry spots; for all of this and more this coffeemaker is reasonably priced. Not too expensive but not on the cheap side either.
Espresso Machine Reviews: BUNN NHBB Velocity Brew 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black
This BUNN coffeemaker brews quickly. Let’s say four to ten cups in as little as three minutes. The stainless steel internal hot water tank keeps water heated to a nicely brewed temperature. This means that the coffee machine must be on at all times. If not instead of that three-minute cup of coffee you’ll have to wait 15-20 minutes. Some may consider this machine not so environmentally friendly because of this feature.

To get this fast brew the amount of water poured into the filter basket is increased. Normal filters would collapse but the BUNN filters are taller and stronger so they can handle the load. However, you’re stuck with their filter. This may not be a problem for some consumers, but if you don’t keep track of how many filters you have there’s no running to the local store to buy refills. Not too many stores carry them, so there’s the extra expense of buying the filters plus paying for shipping. However, the melee is evened-out because BUNN coffee-machines are built to last. So you’ll save money on coffee makers which compensates for the filter expense. This machine isn’t one that you take out of the box and plug-in. Some consumers state that it takes approximately 20-30 minutes to get this coffee machine up and running.
There’s a well worded manual though with a de-liming tool included. The BUNN consumer model keeps only one tank preheated so it may take time if you have guest over and want to switch brews. however, this BUNN coffeemaker manages to pull off great flavor with a flat-bottomed filter. Basically, this BUNN coffeemaker seems more suitable for the office where a machine is needed for constant coffee cups to be filled, unless you have a household of heavy coffee drinkers.
Espresso Machine Reviews: Hamilton Beach 47665 Brew Station Plus 12-Cup
This coffeemaker sits on the line between “yes” and “no.” What attracts consumers the most is that there’s no glass carafe to break. This is a wonderful convenience. Also the style is compact albeit a bit bulky. There are some good features that comes with this Hamilton Beach Brew Station such as a one hand dispensing brew pause function, two-hour shut off function, digital clock/timer, removable water tank and a drip tray. It makes 12 cups of delicious coffee and comes with a one year warranty with a pretty reasonable price.

There are some things that may have consumers in an uproar though. And they’re not minor drawbacks either. First of all whenever the top is opened up water will drip and that means on the kitchen counter or where ever it may be setting. This in itself can be quite messy. There’s also a cleaning ritual that must be done to the letter. We know that all coffee makers must be de-scaled in order to keep it working effectively. However, there have been reports that this Hamilton Beach 47665 can get quite sullied even if it’s cleaned regularly. The stay hot function needs too much additional time to function properly even two hours isn’t enough at times. Additionally, the coffee level is difficult to see through the provided window.
Basically, you’ll have a love-hate relationship with this coffee pot. It starts out well then ends up badly. It brews well and quietly which is an added bonus but it may not help in the long run if your kitchen counter has to be continuously cleaned because of your coffee maker’s leakage. At least it does come with a one year warranty which is usually about the time this coffee machine breaks down.
Conclusion
Most coffee drinkers love a good brew. Consumer’s may have their favorite café and would love to duplicate the wonderful flavor of their favorite cup at home. That’s what coffee-machines are for. There’s no guarantee that the exact taste from an individual’s favorite cup will result but there are plenty of good coffees available to purchase online or in the super market. Anticipating a coffee-maker to do all that it’s features claims may be pushing it a bit. Some do but most won’t live up to the expectations of those who purchased them. But it doesn’t hurt to try.
